Is This Really New?

As I mentioned before, if you visit the website or read the book "The Reconnection" the first thing you will read is "This is new." I believe that is true, in a sense, but I also can't help but sense that there are overtones from history and perhaps at least one person has had at least some access to these frequencies or at least remembered how to use them. I am not really familiar with Reiki or Qi-gong, but I would imagine that they are in some way related to Reconnective Healing in that they are all forms of energy healing. Reconnective Healing claims to only have been around for a decade or so, while Reiki and Qi-gong have of course been around a lot longer. However, I would like to point something out from the Bible, not because I want this discussion to focus in on any one particular creed or faith, but simply because it grew up going to church and it is the spiritual path that I am most familiar with. If I was more familiar with the details of Islam or Hinduism or Buddhism I might be able to draw similar parallels, but for the time being, I will have to use what I know. Anyway, what I find interesting is that in the New Testament of the Bible, and even in some parts of the Old Testament, there are striking similarities between Christ's miraculous healings and Reconnective Healing. I am not going to generalize about the degree or scale of each, but I will say that although Reconnective Healing may be unique in some way, shape, or form, the spiritual texts of Christianity point to a similar method of healing that, at the time I am writing this blog entry, puts it roughly 2011 years before. Isn't there a passage which reads, "All these things that I do, you will do also, and more as well"? I know Dr. Pearl is trying to corner the market on this enterprise, but I think it's best to give credit to your forerunners first. I am sure there are many other examples of similar healings using similar methods in different times, areas of the world, and under different faiths and religious practices, but it would take years to compile them all into one place. But one more example from the same source that I would like to mention is when Christ mentions, "I do nothing, only my Father in me does everything." When practicing Reconnective Healing, there is the sense that although we may act as conduits for this mysterious force of energy which we are in contact with, we ourselves are not actually doing the work. What is acting in us remains unnamed and silent, but we must simply take a step back and watch as observers as the healing works through us, in us, on our clients, and also on us. It is beautiful, mysterious, and effortless, almost too much so, as in life we are always led to believe "no pain, no gain." There is the unspoken assumption that unless we ourselves put in some physical, mental, or emotional exertion, and pay some sort of expenditure, we won't get anything out of it. Reconnective Healing, however, seems to run contrary to this assumption in that the healings will become more dramatic the more we just "relax" and allow them to happen, not try to force anything to happen or make assumptions as to how they should happen.

Back to the original topic that is in the title, "Is This Really New?" Yes, this is new. But so are you as you read this. So is this glorious gift of a new day. So I will leave you today with the words of a marvelous Persian poet, Jel-al-Adin Rumi, who although came long before our time, his words take on new life even today and seem as fresh and new as if they were just written. Here is "Nothing Lasts Forever."

Nothing lasts forever
No one lives forever
Keep that in mind…
In love
Our life is not the same old burden
Our path Is not the same long journey
A flower fades and dies
We must pause to weave perfection in music
Keep that in mind…
In love
Love droops towards its sunset we drown in the golden shadows
Love must be called from its plane
Love must be born again to be free
Keep that in mind…
In love
Let us hurry to gather our flowers before they are plundered by the passing winds
It quickens our blood and brightens our eyes to snatch kisses that would vanish if we delayed
Our life is eager
Our desires are many
Our time moves by
Keep that in mind…
In love
Beauty is sweet for a short time
And then it is gone
Knowledge is precious
But we will never have time to complete it
All is done and finished in eternal Heaven
But our life here is eternally fresh
Keep that in mind…
In love
